Music

I am compelled to tell you all that I am having a blast soaking myself in the anarchy of sounds from C-Mon & Kypski, the Static Traveller album. It’s bloody good… and I needed to listen to another different genre anyway. There’s a Japanese album by Piana called Eternal Castle and might download an acoustic Korean album too if I feel like it. A jazz album is in and also Jason Mraz. He got a new single out too, a lovey dovey duet with Colbie Cailat. She was a fan and he roped her in to do “Lucky” together. But I prefer “I’m Yours”… the live version is so much better.
I have upload the second single for you guys to download… Download Jason Mraz - Lucky

Loaded most of the songs into my Samsung. Yes, I had bought the fellow and congrats to both Jun Yan and Lydia for winning their phones. They deserve it.

The 13 3/4 Adrian Mole makes me think of Justin Suarez from Ugly Betty. Especially of him going on and on about his spots. He and the intellectual in him. Not being understood by the world and all. Smarmy imp. Am already into Autumn. One more season to go.

Oh and what is the hell with the Technorati thing. It’s going up and down. Crazy. Can’t be bothered with it anyway.

Just can’t resist myself from posting these songs, coincidentally it’s Earth Day so here is a compilation music that I overheard last week while hanging out with R in Coffee Bean. I loved the songs so curiosity gotthe best of me and I walked up to the counter and asked them what was playing. The guy told me it was called Rhythms Del Mundo Cuba. Went to the back and got me the CD cover.

A very small portion of the CD sales will go to APE = Artist’s Project Earth - the climate change awareness and disaster relief charity. Packaging is made out of recycle material, obviously. Then there are a few mini articles inserted inside.

Let the music do the talking. I am posting 2 videos. There is nothing much to see, but listen to the different version of the songs. First is by Coldplay - Clocks and the second is by Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
Hear them. Love them.
Here is the original site : RhythmsDelMundo.com
You can get the music CD in Tower Records. I have already checked it out.

Was rolling around the vast internet wetland and got myself stuck on a particular site that goes by the name Visual Kei. Their latest post is on Miyavi. Am no expert on this genre but it should be categorized as J-Rock. I actually had a brief discussion with my colleague before I made that statement. He is after all a big fan of J-Rock Kingdom and is actively involved in Malaysia’s J-Rock scene. FYI, he plays bass.

He also enlightened me on the term Visual Kei. It is something like what we would coin the Punk. It’s the image+style+attitude thingy. If you paid any attention, you will notice that their make up and hair and dressing is uniquely different. Given on a casual jamming session that is. I bet when they take on the stage, it will be all killer and no filler. No idea what it means, and yeah it came from Sum41. Damn their jamming studio is huge and the video should be a warming up session. Love the solo from the tap dancing fellow. It’s a waste that I can’t load the other videos. They seem to be missing. Am going to give it another listen for today.

PS. My J-Rock mad colleague has already shared his J-Rock collection. Might hold my horses now for I have several independent musicians on my playlist.

7 Samurais Session DVD Part 1 of 9

Watched a few more videos of Miyavi and he seems to adopt the percussive fingerstyle that McKee and Rodrigo Y Gabriela are comfortable in. The video below confirms it. Might sign up for a crash course in J-Rock, just to satisfy my curiosity.

Selfish Love

Yup. If I do, I would have written this piece. It’s a song by Jack Johnson, one of my favorite singer and I never felt much for this song previously but now it speaks volume. Would have written something like this if Jack had not done so earlier. Go through the lyrics and do not skip a single line and you would see me in there. But still it’s his experience and not entirely mine. There are certain words and lines that I can really relate. Enjoy.

Tips. Look out for the wordings in italic.

“Sitting, Waiting, Wishing”

Now I was sitting waiting wishing
That you believed in superstitions
Then maybe you’d see the signs
But Lord knows that this world is cruel
And I ain’t the Lord, no I’m just a fool
Learning loving somebody don’t make them love you

Must I always be waiting waiting on you?
Must I always be playing playing your fool?

I sing ya songs I dance a dance
I gave ya friends all a chance
Putting up with them wasn’t worth never having you
And maybe you been through this before
But its my first time
So please ignore
The next few lines cause they’re directed at you

I cant always be waiting waiting on you
I cant always be playing playing your fool
I keep playing your part
But its not my scene
Wont this plot not twist?
I’ve had enough mystery.
Keep building me up, then shooting me down
Well im already down

Just wait a minute
Just sitting waiting
Just wait a minute
Just sitting waiting

Well if I was in your position
Id put down all my ammunition
I’d wondered why’d it taken me so long
But Lord knows that I’m not you
And If I was I wouldn’t be so cruel

Cause waiting on love ain’t so easy to do

Must I always be waiting waiting on you?
Must I always be playing playing your fool?
No I cant always be waiting waiting on you
I cant always be playing playing your fool, foool

It’s a nice song to sink into. Let me indulge in my moments of despair for a wee longer. Yesterday night I just fell flat on the bed and slept. It’s been more than a week since I had such a nice sleep on my own bed. Even forgot to take off my contact lenses, close the door, change my clothes and off the lights. Yeah Abner is that tired of it all.

They used to be in a heavy metal band together. Now it’s just down to two of them. If remembered correctly they went to to play in the streets and somehow managed to get to play with Damian Rice. And the rest is history. Will update if I have the chance.

Tamacun

How was it? Ready for more adrenaline rush from acoustic guitar?

Are you laid back on your chair? Don’t get too comfortable yet as I am sure you will slouch forward for a better look. Just watch Andy McKee play with your eyes wide open. Blast those speakers/headphones and leave the mouth ajar.

Drifting

More about Andy’s phenomenal presence online at BillingsGazette

He plays the fingerstyle guitar, that I am quite certain but the mixture of the thumping and tapping and all… I am not so sure what they call it. Awaits enlightenment. Further reading told me that its called Percussive fingerstyle. There’s a duo that plays like this too who have been my fave acoustic players since last year. Will post them on Friday.

Andy is here to welcome the announcement of a new gazetted public holiday for Kuala Lumpur tomorrow. Encore!

Thought it was a guy’s song when I saw the title Taylor Swift - Tears On My Guitar. Was looking for something acoustic and simple on this cold grey Friday morning. He turns out to be a hot she. Taylor’s more on the country pop direction and it sure brighten things up a little with her clear chirpy voice. Well not for the Tears On My Guitar of course. That is a sappy song. Listen to the Our Song for the happy happy joy joy feeling.

Our Song

Proceed for a dose of emo-ness. It’s about lusting for your best friend. As portrayed in the music video.
Country singers lately are getting mighty hot I must say. Haha…

Tears On My Guitar

Oh and a happy birthday to my brother too!

This is the initial musician that I wanted to blog about right before Damien Rice hit me again.
I only have three song of his on my playlist and Echo Park is one that I like a lot. In The Sun is a popular song from Joseph Arthur which gets a lot of exposure in TV Series like the L Word, Scrubs and bla bla bla.
Diverse artist with different styles and always experimenting. Well the fact that he is also an artist and sculptor just made me raise my brows just a wee bit. I am hooked on most of his older songs. The newer ones I think I need some adjusting too. Oh Joseph Arthur does reminds me of John Lennon + Noel Gallagher.

Echo Park - Live

Another song I would love you guys to check out is Honey and The Moon. It’s a song featured in The O.C. Pardon the video feed though the audio is quite good.

Damn. I wanted to post about a different singer for this weekend but I just had to be seduced by the waves of emotions from none other than Damien Rice. Been listening to him for years now and the first and only song that I had Ghost in the title. Downloaded it randomly and it stayed. Then Sponkers brought me Damien’s O album which became my emo album of the year with hits like Volcano, CannonBall and Blower’s Daughter. My personal favorites are Cold Water, Older Chest and Cheers Darling. You can count on him to lay a warm blanket of sadness with a fluffy depressed plush bunny tucked neatly under your head, making you feeling all warm and fuzzy.

The beautiful soothing voice complimenting Damien’s rougher tone is of Lisa Hannigan. Sadly though I read they had split and went separate ways. I am too comfortable now to go find out what happened. Here is my favorite being played live. FingerNailsInMyEye probably would enjoy them.

Cold Water - Live

And another newer one from Damien’s 9 Crimes album.

Rootless Tree - Live from Abbey Road

Check out all their videos in YouTube. Tell me if you like them. If you don’t, then shut up and go play else where. Yup, their songs are getting to me.

This is a mashup project by the people over at ccc/ill chemist in conjunction with The Beatles 40th anniversary release of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Its aptly named Cracked Pepper. Quite a different feel to it and it might be able to entertain you on some boring Saturday.

You could download a sample track to listen : 01 - Cracked Pepper

I would suggest that you head over here to download the whole mashup album before it taken down.

See : www.cracked-pepper.blogspot.com

Gotta go now. Am meeting some friends at the climbing gym. Exercise ya.

Update : Dave from memethief.com said there is no hurry to download as he has no plans to take it down. Hurray!
