Bringing back the blings
![]() |
Let me bring you the new old ways of glitter glamor. Animated gifs have been something of a past. A lost or shall I say forgotten piece of art. Designers nowadays tend to avoid having to deal with the time consuming process of creating even a simple gif animation. I know I am. Guilty. All attention has been channeled towards Flash animation which is easier and faster to create. And it offers more flexibility and a wider playground.

But I was blown away when my eyeballs were somehow attracted to the shimmering glitz of these babies.

Most of the illustrations are from Micth O’ Connell an all rounder illustrator and the glitter graphics pimpings are done by a Miss Colleen Fry. It’s a free for all now so go check out the gallery and take what you want. Really awesome work I must say. Go ahead and “Gif a friend a gif today!” Pun intended. Can’t you see?

Wait a minute. It seems Ms. Colleen and her talented friend Ms. Jessica Adel have got a site up featuring all these eye blinding shimmering-ness. Go check it out at Glitter Graphics. Don’t mind me.

Disney Characters Comes To Life – Part 2
Annie Leibovitz’s latest work will be gracing the pages of many popular lifestyle magazines this festive month. It’s actually the follow up to the Disney’s “Year of a Million Dreams” theme. The previous potrait series shots includes David Beckham as Prince Phillip, Scarlet Johansson as Cinderella and Beyonce as Alice In Wonderland. Check my previous post.
This time round however we have world #1 tennis ace, Roger Federer posing as King Arthur, Rachel Weisz as Snow White and Julie Andrews as Blue Fairy (Pinocchio) and lil’ Abigail Breslin assumes a young Fira fairy.
Click on the images for desktop wallpapers.
Caution : Very big size.

You want sexy calendar a not?
It’s the last month of the year and here is something really really different to mark your days for 2008. Ok I know, it’s the festive month and it’s kind of inauspicious. But this is another proof that S E X sells. This time it’s a controversial marketing campaign for a hand-crafted casket maker in Rome, Italy.
Glamorous model shots with their caskets, just like what you would expect from a car photo shoot. In Mr. Maurizio Matteucci of Cofanifunebri’s own words, “It is good marketing but it is also a way to play down such a serious subject and to smile.
Coffins are consumer goods like any other things, so I sell in the same way as any other consumer goods are sold. The calendar is very popular.”
Now for some eye candy.

Images from Cofanifunebri official site.
It costs EURO € 2.70 which is RM13.25 after conversion. This is the price without shipping and handling. Oh and you can bet that these desktop accessories are selling like hotcakes. Guess the owner, is dead on. Definitely thinking out of the box… (that’s a tagline on the calendar… Mr. Maurizio sure is a funny guy)
Get a calendar! or Download the previews in zip (965Kb)
I edited a sample. Let’s say that they were selling chinese coffins instead. And they got some model to pose with the coffin. Give you free la… you want to have it?

Early Xmas Gift Idea
Christmas is just around the corner. Aaa… the time for giving and sharing. Here is a gift that’s going to be treasured and could be included into the family heirloom too. Check out the cool looking briefcase with the ever popular bunny logo.

It’s the Playboy: The Complete Centerfolds edition and yes, it comes in hardcover, of course. It would definitely brighten up any rainy Sunday afternoons instantly, boring Saturday nights and make slow riding of the porcelain pony more enjoyable. You might even look forward to them. It could also be your sleeping lifelong companion when you go travelling eg. being the pillow. After all said and done… I am sure HornyAngMoh would be very interested in this. I know I am… a bit. It’s an archive of excellent photography and not some sleazy snapshots. Right? Definitely a wise investment.

As the shower curtains part…
It’s my 101 post and let’s celebrate it by hitting the shower in style. Oh yeah…

Ain’t it cool… the periodic table design for shower curtains. I like it a lot if you see it from a design perspective. It does not excite me as much if I have to study it. Yes, I suck at chemistry, badly. For parents who have kids in the science streams, all the better… you could be nagging at your kid to study in style with a bloody big periodic table of K, Ni, Na, C, Au, C, Ba, I and other elements staring at them whenever they are buck naked. They would be learning it without realizing in no time. How functional. They can piss and spit on it in anger but it’s easy to clean. So no worries.
For younger tots, there’s the weather cycle curtain. Very educational. Cleaning up will never be the same.

Alien Abduction Lamp
Haha… this is so funny but I am certain a few person I know would love to have this on their table.

The brief:
Abduction is a lamp for Sci-Fi fans of all ages.
A light bulb inside the metal UFO lights up the beam and the windows. The glass of the beam is frosted to distribute light in all directions.
It’s still at a concept stage, so you can’t buy it even if you have money. Maybe you could pester the designer, Lasse Klein to hasten the project.
Have a look at it at The Alien Abduction Lamp website for more images and information. You could abduct a cow or human. Great stuff…

I want a – Get Out of Jail Free – mug!

Dang… why don’t we have such simple and nice looking mugs in the market? The ones we have around are just damn ugly. I don’t want orchids or creepy crawlers adorning my cuppa tea.
Having a cool mug like this might be the only chance to get to mingle around at the pantry. It might even save you a seat on those rare Monopoly get-together nights. Unfiltered tap water never tasted this good when you have a Monopoly mug to drink from.
Will it ever reach our shores? I’ll take a Chance, please.

Paper Craft – Toys From Pulp Part 2

Here is the paper art that I bought recently from my Bangkok trip. Damn… it’s already been a month since I went there. There’s a rabbit, Hello Kitty and a familiar looking cartoon character. Anyway, will spend some time on it on weekends. Seems fairly easy. Kinda underestimating it, am I…
Am planning to duplicate the rabbit template and use it for another project.

Little Red Dancing Shoes

It looks a little like Crocs to me, some of you might beg to differ. Who cares right?
In actual fact their called Dancing Shoes or Tanssitossut if you speak Finnish. Yup, it hails all the way from Finland. This super adorable felt+rubber shoe(s) is made solely for a mum/dad who love to have “shake your bon bons” session with their little angels/devils. How sweet it would look on those home videos. Bummer, would be parents/well wishers … it’s still in prototype stage.

Oh, and best wishes to Daisy when she embarks on her new journey!

Paper Craft – Toys From Pulp Part 1
I noticed there has been a surge in paper toys lately. No it’s not the Japanese origami. The ones I am going to rave about is on a whole new different level. Some are quite simple while others are really complicated which has mechanical parts. I bought a few paper toys on my previous trip to Bangkok. Some cute cartoony ones. I am after all a noob. But I am shining the spotlight on some old school Paper Crafts. And in abnerd’s old school term it means robots and space crafts. You are in luck if you dig Transformers, Star Wars and Star Trek. Tagging along you will find a stray Valkyrie (Macross), Delorean (Back to the Future) and some action figures. The Star Wars and Star Trek paper art goes back from 2002. You can download their “blueprints” and print, cut and glue away!
For some Transformers and action heroes, click here.

For Star Wars and Star Trek, click here.

Most of them are in PDF format. If you don’t plan to spend your weekend cutting and gluing at least check out their gallery. Cool.
As for me, I will stick to Level 1 paper toys first. Tried helping my gf on this and it’s er… challenging.
