One Full Cycle
Today is the 16th April 2008.
It was on this day that I randomly spoke to her. I did a random search and out comes her name. Just a simple hi.
Our conversation was short for the first day.
But it just took off from there and thinking back… mmm… let’s keep it that way. At least to me it started beautifully.
I thought I would definitely go and crash into some dark emo hole but instead, somehow I feel a little glad and contented right now. Think I will have a good sleep tonight.
Damien Rice won’t be lulling me to sleep tonight. Not even Brand New.
What irony too, the much belated gift that I got for her will arrive in my office today afternoon. I changed the order for I don’t want to be faced with a object that has 2 bunnies looking up to a crescent. A normal graphic but it speaks loudly to me. Rather not have something like that around me. Don’t need reminders.
I am blogging about this on my bed. Finally my connection is up and my blogging gears are red hot and ready to go. But am physically tired. Good night.
Yeah yeah. I tend to remember dates like these. Yawn.

What the 12th did to me
What a weekend it had been. I was running around and meeting loads of people, which has been something that I have not done in a long time.
My Saturday schedule started early in the morning with some chores… wash clothes. Then I went and did some climbing in Summit alone… for two hours. Got back home, clean up and off I go for the BlogMob Event, a brainchild of Mobile World Mag + Samsung Malaysia. Was worried that I would be late as traffic seemed to be building up. The event was in Izzi, KL a restaurant in the Lot10 – Sg. Wang vicinity scheduled to start at 3.00pm. Har… turns out I was just in time and I plunked myself beside Jun Yan and John after I briefly introduced myself. My first two blogger friends.
We were then ushered to another area, with a more relaxed ambiance. Low lights and lounge sofas. Yes, there was food. I skipped breakfast and lunch so at 3 o’clock I was hungry. Had a few glasses of Coke and some finger food, with constant clicks and flashes of camera momentarily blinding me. I zip my way around whenever possible to avoid them. But the small space do not allow me. Haha… after a while I got used to it. Kash of Mobile World attended to each and everyone and it made the whole scene warmer. Met and introduced myself to most of the bloggers there. Initially I asked a friend to accompany and when that failed I invited my brother and gf and friend to tag along. Luckily they left me high and dry and that allowed me to move around and mingled freely. Hehe… Was half expecting to meet people in shirts and ties and nicely pressed suits. Freaky. Managed to speak to a whole lot of the organizers and bloggers.
The event started with a brief stand up introduction and with my choice seating… which was beside the beverage counter… made me an obvious choice to start with. I blabbered a bit about me and yeah, Amy, I am also left handed. Five. But the real one thing that they did not know about me at that precise moment, I was worried that no one was going to take my clean clothes in. After everyone, that includes the organizers, had introduced themselves, and vroom, off we went with Kash shifting gears and steering us to the main reason why we were there. The bloody cool phones. Have been aching to get my hands on them for nearly 3 weeks plus.
Reds for Samsung i550 and Blacks for Samsung i450.
I got myself an 8 of spades so I get to wrap my lecherous fingers around the sleek tight body of Samsung’s new i450 phone. And being my very first (and probably last time) getting a chance like this, I was feeling ecstatic. Never had I, had in my possession a brag worthy piece of technology. Not that I love boasting anyway. But hey getting the privilege to do it once a while seems cool. Kash continued to talk after that but the attention was sitting cosily in my palm so all his words was going in left and coming out right. Slide shows and presentation followed and blink… we were back to our phones. Checking out the functions, asking questions and being attended to every whims and raised brows.
More mingling, drinks, discussions and camwhoring and soon it was time to go. Did not manage to get a photo taken with each and everyone of the bloggers which I hope could be redeemed in a month’s time. I gobbled some more pizzas and eggs before I made my exit.
Went to PC Fair to clarify some questions and dinner in Desa Petaling with a buddy then home I went. Showed to my housemate, which she shamelessly camwhored a dozen plus pictures. Thought of staying home to play with my NEW TOYS but decided to join Rachel and friends for a drink in The Curve. German beer is smooth. I ordered the lightest in the menu. Shot a picture of them with the new Samsung i450 before I left. More reasons for me to lug around my camera and to mix with bigger crowds, ya.
Haha… Food4Thot, if you are still reading this, yes I purposely left you out till the ending. Were you cursing under your breath, why this little ingrate jerk did not tell the world that it was you who opened this little window so that I could get my dirty paws on a brand new Samsung phone?
Hugs… hehe… thank you my dear friend.
Yes, my housemate managed to take in my clothes but it was after the rain ravaged them. And no, I did not put them back in the washing machine. Mr. Matahari got to work on them the next morning and I am wearing them now as I am typing this. Eee…

Moshi Moshi Miyavi
Was rolling around the vast internet wetland and got myself stuck on a particular site that goes by the name Visual Kei. Their latest post is on Miyavi. Am no expert on this genre but it should be categorized as J-Rock. I actually had a brief discussion with my colleague before I made that statement. He is after all a big fan of J-Rock Kingdom and is actively involved in Malaysia’s J-Rock scene. FYI, he plays bass.
He also enlightened me on the term Visual Kei. It is something like what we would coin the Punk. It’s the image+style+attitude thingy. If you paid any attention, you will notice that their make up and hair and dressing is uniquely different. Given on a casual jamming session that is. I bet when they take on the stage, it will be all killer and no filler. No idea what it means, and yeah it came from Sum41. Damn their jamming studio is huge and the video should be a warming up session. Love the solo from the tap dancing fellow. It’s a waste that I can’t load the other videos. They seem to be missing. Am going to give it another listen for today.
PS. My J-Rock mad colleague has already shared his J-Rock collection. Might hold my horses now for I have several independent musicians on my playlist.

Watched a few more videos of Miyavi and he seems to adopt the percussive fingerstyle that McKee and Rodrigo Y Gabriela are comfortable in. The video below confirms it. Might sign up for a crash course in J-Rock, just to satisfy my curiosity.

BlogMob First Batch
I foresee that in coming weeks, my blog will be quite busy. Cross fingers.
Just found out that I am already listed in the BlogMob site. Although there has been only 5 clicks from it so far. It might be my photo thats driving the mouse away.
What is BlogMob?
BlogMob has been conceptualised by Mobile World as a platform for Samsung to interact with bloggers. It is a long term project with this being the first BlogMob event.
You’re witnessing selected Malaysian bloggers spending one month with a Samsung mobile handsets. They will use them in their daily lives and especially their blogging activities.
On top of the fun of trying out a brand new mobile phone, the bloggers will stand a chance to win prizes at the end of the programme.
How did we come up with the name BlogMob? Well, we think bloggers are a pretty energetic group of people. Their enthusiasm is boundless and together they make up a pretty cool mob, which by the way can also be a short nick for ‘mobile’.
This has been the other thing that’s keeping me excited and helping me get through my personal hard times. I am crawling but I will be fine. My rate of waking up suddenly from my sleep and having my mind wondering about what happen and all the questions has been reduced. Am not going to let the suffocating weight creep back on top of my heart and lungs.

D-Barcode : Stolen
So I was walking around some shops with a friend after dinner, and the familiarity of the design on some Tshirts that was being displayed caught my eyes. I was surprised to see the designs of D-Barcode printed on the tshirts. I could only recognize 2 designs.

The quality of print was bad, which made it even worse.
Seems to me the pirate patrol’s arm of copyright infringement reach far and wide. What a level of efficiency.
Will try and snap some photos if possible.

Barcode Me, Japan
I have always enjoyed Japanese packagings. Their vibrant display in bright, colorful and fun designs. Truly reflects on their lifestyle and culture. The most I get to see are F&B products all propped up nicely on supermarket shelves. Many of you might have noticed them as you stroll down the aisle, for they certainly attracts. Well, it’s easier to notice them if they are arranged alongside local products. And now I have discovered there are a certain group of designers who dedicate themselves in refining even the smallest detail on packaging. Japanese seems to breath life into every tiny little detail that others tend to overlook. In this case, it’s the barcode design. Here is a small selection of the vertical/horizontal lines put into action.

Bet you never see them in that way too right?
They have a more on display in their gallery. D-Barcode Gallery.
Would be barcode hunting next time if I walk into Isetan or Jaya Jusco or Cold Storage. Any more places that stocks up on Japanese products here in Malaysia?

Flash Them Blings
I am not a person who likes to accessorize. Well, I don’t at all, for now. Certainly would like to start if I found a piece that I am smitten with. No need for expensive or attention screaming pieces, that tries to be part of a conversation every time. To me, being a personal artifact, it should perform what it’s suppose to do. Being personal. Being you. Individualism.
I am taking a liking to designs by Open! Design & Concepts… application of everyday items into their work. Check out their jewellery and watches section. I like them but not enough for me to wish to own them. Too much gold anyway.

Just Like An Episode of Happy Tree Friends
After all is said and done, I realized that everything that unreeled before me seemed to resemble a concept that the animated cartoon Happy Tree Friends used time and again.
Witness Happy Tree Friends here.
Everything starts off dreamy, cute and darn sweet only to end it with so much bloodiness and gore.
When it started I just can’t believe how blessed I was. When it ended I had my heart in my mouth, but I for one am not those who goes into denial mode. But still it was very hard to believe and swallow. Truth and reality hurts but lies even more so.
Even the caller ringtone I set for her was the theme from Happy Tree Friends. I get the cold heart shiver and tingle every time I hear it. I should have known better.
Will be cleaning up my phone soon of all messages and pictures. Empty it all out. Am even considering to go one step further with the phone cleansing ritual. Now my #1 on speed dial is vacant and I do expect it to stay that way for quite some time. So much for morning calls and cravings for a voice that warms me up. Instead it has a reverse effect on me now.
Am learning to let go and saying goodbye to days that are gone, though they still comes and haunts me ever so often. Exorcism needed. This is where time comes in I suppose.
———————————————————————-
Dear Friends,
Just give me a pat or a back rub thing if you see me. Do not ask me how I am. I would just try and lie to you a little. Hugs appreciated too. Even not asking me anything helps. I will be fine soon.
Thank you very much.
Yours Sincerely,
Abner

Where Is My Salvation?
It rained heavily yesterday evening. So heavy that I chose to stay back in the office till 7. While I was walking towards the LRT I spotted something which made me stop dead in my tracks.
A huge rainbow swept across the sky. Never had I seen it so big and so beautiful. I felt uplifted and warm for a second or two.
Several girls were taking photos of it. Excitedly.
I wonder when will my rainbow appears. Soon I hope, for the rain that is going on inside me is beginning to subside. Unpredictable.

A Song That I Would Have Written
Yup. If I do, I would have written this piece. It’s a song by Jack Johnson, one of my favorite singer and I never felt much for this song previously but now it speaks volume. Would have written something like this if Jack had not done so earlier. Go through the lyrics and do not skip a single line and you would see me in there. But still it’s his experience and not entirely mine. There are certain words and lines that I can really relate. Enjoy.
Tips. Look out for the wordings in italic.
“Sitting, Waiting, Wishing”
Now I was sitting waiting wishing
That you believed in superstitions
Then maybe you’d see the signs
But Lord knows that this world is cruel
And I ain’t the Lord, no I’m just a fool
Learning loving somebody don’t make them love youMust I always be waiting waiting on you?
Must I always be playing playing your fool?I sing ya songs I dance a dance
I gave ya friends all a chance
Putting up with them wasn’t worth never having you
And maybe you been through this before
But its my first time
So please ignore
The next few lines cause they’re directed at youI cant always be waiting waiting on you
I cant always be playing playing your fool
I keep playing your part
But its not my scene
Wont this plot not twist?
I’ve had enough mystery.
Keep building me up, then shooting me down
Well im already down
Just wait a minute
Just sitting waiting
Just wait a minute
Just sitting waitingWell if I was in your position
Id put down all my ammunition
I’d wondered why’d it taken me so long
But Lord knows that I’m not you
And If I was I wouldn’t be so cruel
Cause waiting on love ain’t so easy to doMust I always be waiting waiting on you?
Must I always be playing playing your fool?
No I cant always be waiting waiting on you
I cant always be playing playing your fool, foool

It’s a nice song to sink into. Let me indulge in my moments of despair for a wee longer. Yesterday night I just fell flat on the bed and slept. It’s been more than a week since I had such a nice sleep on my own bed. Even forgot to take off my contact lenses, close the door, change my clothes and off the lights. Yeah Abner is that tired of it all.
