Entrecard – DIY Design and Advertise FOC
Thought of getting your own banner and advertising it on other blogs for free?

Well I did but could not find an easier approach to doing so. All that changed just now when I dropped by Merdurian’s blog. She had just gotten herself an Entrecard. It’s where you can drop your online name card at other Entrecard member’s site. Earn credits through networking like visiting other blogs and dropping your cards. I am still exploring the possibilities with this thing.
She claims that it generates quite some traffic for her. Let me relay my update on that by the end of the day.

My current card. Click.
I have gotten 8 adverts so far. Still low on credits though.

My KFC experience and Chipster Prize
Had a farewell lunch at KFC just now. I am feeling that even a snack plate is too much for me to handle. I definitely am unable to stomach a three piece chicken meal judging from my experience two years ago. Made me felt uneasy with the fried, slightly oily meat swimming in my stomach. Think I am getting too old for old Colonel’s secret recipe. Their burger still ok though.
Can you remember your first KFC experience? I do. Vaguely. It’s just images no audio.
It was on October 5th. Year circa 1986-1987-ish. I should be around Standard Two. Night time, dinner probably. It was DiaperTalk‘s birthday and I got to tag along with his family for a finger lickin’ good dinner. I think I was the only one assaulting my hacked piece of poultry with bare hands while the rest were sawing it delicately. I felt awkward but for only a moment before I buried my face back into my piece of dead-secret ingredients-laced-piece of fried meat. I was facing the door. Yup… that’s basically all that I can’t forget.
And as I was walking back to my 4′ by 4′ space, the company secretary stopped me and handed me this.

It’s a package from Danone. Finally, it has arrived. I felt the package and it tells me that it is a box. Duh…

Inside is a letter from Danone and a Chipster premium. It’s an aluminium box and a thumbdrive with a one color logo printing.

Considered ok la for my first online contest win. A 1Gb thumbdrive. Came just in time too, as I had only just purchased a FM audio transmitter last Friday at the PC Fair. At least I have more use for it than a Tshirt. Thanks Chipster! And most importantly for those who have voted for me.
Bet SlowCatchUpKuan‘s wisdom tooth extract don’t hurt that much especially with a brand new iPod and thumbdrive accompanying her. Right?

You want sexy calendar a not?
It’s the last month of the year and here is something really really different to mark your days for 2008. Ok I know, it’s the festive month and it’s kind of inauspicious. But this is another proof that S E X sells. This time it’s a controversial marketing campaign for a hand-crafted casket maker in Rome, Italy.
Glamorous model shots with their caskets, just like what you would expect from a car photo shoot. In Mr. Maurizio Matteucci of Cofanifunebri’s own words, “It is good marketing but it is also a way to play down such a serious subject and to smile.
Coffins are consumer goods like any other things, so I sell in the same way as any other consumer goods are sold. The calendar is very popular.”
Now for some eye candy.

Images from Cofanifunebri official site.
It costs EURO € 2.70 which is RM13.25 after conversion. This is the price without shipping and handling. Oh and you can bet that these desktop accessories are selling like hotcakes. Guess the owner, is dead on. Definitely thinking out of the box… (that’s a tagline on the calendar… Mr. Maurizio sure is a funny guy)
Get a calendar! or Download the previews in zip (965Kb)
I edited a sample. Let’s say that they were selling chinese coffins instead. And they got some model to pose with the coffin. Give you free la… you want to have it?

Random Pictures
Time for some random pictures I have taken.

Old school – Gas Water Heater… as it’s name suggest. It runs on gas.

Found it on my buddy SWK’s wardrobe. Ooo… I love M.A.S.K. Brings back memories. Me heart.

Never saw a shining KFC sticker spreading dental care info. Might be from the Kid’s Fun Club or something.
Oh and I got these HKFixed stickers a few weeks ago. Brian Fu sent it to me. Thanks man!

If you are interested you might still be able to get some. Check out their blog and email him. There a chance that they still have some in stock. Great to have on a dark background. It stands out beautifully.
Damn… could not get the M.A.S.K off me. So here is the intro I found. I realize I don’t know the song. Not that memorable I guess.

Buy Me Ads Now…
Clap clap… finally some advertisers have decided to put up their ads on my humble blog via Nuffnang. I will be booked for ads starting today until the 22nd of December 2007. Pardon my excitement as this is considered my first. I had a TGIF ad running on my site previously but it was over before I even knew it. My current earning is a whooping RM0.60. I am so depressed just by looking at that figure. Haha… Hope to see some increase in that soon.
Speaking of sponsors… Advertlets in the meantime has been fully utilising its space but unfortunately I do not see any increase in figures since I don’t even know when. Sucky if you ask me. I do observe a slight increase in my viewership (not readership, because most of them leave less than 5 seconds, that’s what StatsCounter.com tells me… haha) but no movement in my Advertlets earning. Will be taking their ad off anytime now. Nah… the recent spate of ‘controversies’ does not influence me much. Let’s see if there are any changes in earnings for a few more days. If not, then they could keep the miserable RM1 plus and get Choki Choki… melt it on a plate and lick together. Yum.

Danone Representative Just Called
Finally, the people from Danone called and congratulated on my win. It’s the Chipster contest, and yup don’t blame you for not remembering it. Even I myself forgot about it but nevertheless getting the phone call woke me up from my daydreaming. Requested them to send it to my office. The wait will be over soon.
What do you think I get? Mmm…

Wedding dinner and Lost City, Tambun
Just got back from Ipoh. Thought of blogging a little before I hit the sack.
Rushed to Ipoh on Saturday evening around 5 plus for a 7 o’clock wedding. Needless to say, we were late. When the four of us marched in, they were already serving dish number 3. Just in time for some chicken. The place was packed and there were 3 events on the same floor. Two weddings and one birthday celebration. The granny’s celebration was sandwiched between yum seng cheers both left and right. The youngsters, presumably her grandchildren tried to bring the house down too with their own cheers.
Overall the food there was great and I never expected that from a local restaurant. It’s better than the dishes I had from my previous wedding dinners I attended. We cleared most of the dishes, from the prawns to the mushrooms. The rice… cannot finish on the spot but the guys “kasi bungkus” for tomorrow’s breakfast. Dessert also left a bit. Nope, they threw my idea of having to pack it and put in a straw so that they can hang it in the car and drink.
Adjourned to a cafe at Green Town and ordered some diluted hot chocolate and mushroom soup with a nice garlic toast. Hung around till it was 1 plus. Washed up and slept.
Woke up at 11 when my friend’s parents were pacing up and down the living room. Oops… I was the last one lying around their common room, so got up quickly and brushed up and bathed. Went and had breakfast and it’s the umpteenth time I missed the egg custard. All sold out. Had a plate of chee cheong fun and few pieces of popiah and some beef balls. Headed home and rest. Went out again to meet 2 Ipoh (chicks of course…) and had lunch together with them. It was already 2.30pm. Had a quick one then headed home and on the way back they decided to go over to The Lost City of Tambun. A water theme park. Changed quickly and off we went. Hesitated at the counter but finally paid RM23.90 for 2 and half hours of expected fun. Did a couple of water slides and spun on rides (dry park). Gave the Pirate ship a miss because the two of us was on the verge of vomiting. Another friend of mine surrendered at the first ride. I forgot the rides name. To be honest, as I am typing this, 8 hours after leaving the park, my stomach is still feeling queasy. Damn.
Anyway, guess whom I met there? Walked over to the tiger’s den and met my fellow climbers from KL. What a coincidence! Greeted them and stayed for a while. They were already packing for they were there since 10 in the morning. Showed me some routes that they did and damn it’s so cool. Wished I could spare some time for it. Well there is always next time. Xes was there a month plus ago.
Overall the whole trip had been fun but I missed having my gf along. She too had 2 wedding dinners to attend to on Sunday and also have to play “ji mui” too for a colleagues wedding. Can’t help it because these few months a lot of friends are holding their wedding ceremonies. I have another one coming in 2 weeks. Get bombed until scared I tell ya.
I am beat… Nite…

Hayden Photo – Spot the items

I found the super groovy radio player in Hayden’s GQ shot. It’s actually a Panasonic 8-track player. You can check it out at Original Design a Dutch website but it has been sold. Only 1 piece so no guessing who got it. I like 60′s and 70′s stuff. Simple, bright and bold.

and the brown bottle is CopperTone Lotion SPF8. A common brand in Malaysia available at all leading pharmacies.

Get this if you are intending to get darker faster when you go to the beaches or being out in the sun. I prefer this to the Banana Boat brand that I bought. The SPF 8 smells better and gives a better bronze color when you bake yourself. Banana Boat’s tanning oil smells like banana and there are chances that when you fall asleep on the beach, monkeys will come assuming you are their favorite food and enjoy you. Use with caution.
